Teni whose real name is Teniola Apata was born on the 23rd of December, 1992 in Lagos State, Nigeria into the family of Mr. (Late) and Mrs. Simeon Apata. It is learned that her dad died in early 1995 as he was gunned down by unknown men. Teni has a sister named Niniola who is a big-name musician in the entertainment industry.
She attended Apata Memorial High School; a school that was owned by her father. There she obtained her first school leaving certificate and West African Examination Council (WAEC) certificate.
After the completion of her secondary education, she went to the American Intercontinental University in the USA where she obtained a degree in Business Administration.

Teni is one of the artists who has been aspiring for a career in the music industry since her youth and while in school. She was initially composing covers of different songs and usually posted the performance on her Instagram page.
Teni started her music career when she got signed to Magic Finger Records, a music-producing company owned by Shizzi in 2016. She released her debut album “Amen” while signed with Magic Finger Records but eventually left in 2017.
In 2017, Teni got signed to Dr. Color Entertainment and immediately kicked the ground rolling with the release of “Fargin”. She further enjoyed success in the industry when she released Askamaya, Case, and Uyo Meyo.
Askamaya was hugely successful and even made the top 15 on MTV Base’s Hottest Naija Tracks in 2018. Furthermore, she was a guest artist on YouTube’s Music Trending Artist on the Rise.
